WOLVES boss Dean Saunders wants to land Leeds striker Luke Varney in the summer.
Saunders was keen to take him to the Black Country in January until the end of the season but Varney turned the move down flat.
The former Wales striker isn’t going to take no for answer however and will make another move for Varney at the end of the season.
Saunders is planning an extensive rebuilding programme of his squad and Varney is at the top of his wanted list.
The 30-year-old has played for seven clubs since Crewe plucked him out of non-league football with Quorn a decade ago.
Varney scored his only league goal for Leeds this season in the 2-2 draw at Wolves in February.
Meanwhile also on Saunders’ shopping list is Blackpool defender Alex Baptiste, who was also a target of Blackburn Rovers before Michael Appleton was sacked and Leicester.
Saunders has also got his eye on West ham United winger Robert Hall after missing out to Bolton Wanderers before the loan window closed. SPURS are keeping tabs on Sheffield Wednesday rightback Hayden White who has caught the eye for the Owls development teams this season.
The 17-year-old has also been monitored by Wigan Athletic after he impressed against them. BOLTON are set to launch a summer bid to land Oldham’s FA Cup hero Matt Smith this summer.
The 23-year-old former Cheltenham trainee was signed from non-league Solihull Moors by the Latics two years ago.
And the 6ft 6ins striker scored against Merseyside giants Everton in this seasons competition to catch the eye of watching scouts.
Smith joined Oldham after studying at Manchester University and is yet to sign a new deal to keep him at the League One outfit.
Bolton boss Dougie Freedman has already had him watched a number of times and is expected to make a move this summer as he hunts for a replacement for long-serving targetman Kevin Davies.
But they are likely to face competition with Stoke and Celtic having scouts check him out recently at Boundary Park.
