CARLISLE HAND IT TO GILLESPIE
MARK Gillespie is likely to start next season as Carlisle’s first-choice goalkeeper – as long as his manager Greg Abbott can keep hold of him.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season, making 35 appearances in all competitions before this weekend, and Abbott says his form has not gone unnoticed.
“Mark is now looking like he might start next season as our No.1 keeper and might be attracting interest from other people with his performances,” he said.
“The other young players have the opportunity to follow the guys who have done it this year – they are the perfect example.”
