EVERY CREDIT TO ALLEN AT GILLS

The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP -

MONTY Python taught us to ‘Always look on the bright side of life’. I can remember meeting Martin Allen on a Pro License refresher shortly after his Notts County tenure had ended. At that point in time, I felt he was a little down, albeit he is a fighter and was always going to bounce back. Management has certainly given Martin his ups and downs. But as they say, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and nobody can deny that he has done an outstanding job at Gillingham. Martin divides opinion, for sure, but he has changed his managerial formula and has delivered immediate results. Living and learning I guess that is called.

Just as Nick Faldo went back to basics and remodelled his swing in order to reach the heights as a Major winner, so a manager can have a good re-think and approach the job differently.

Huge credit to Martin and Gillingham for a job very well done.

TOP BOSS: Martin Allen
