SCUNTHORPE boss Brian Laws insists his side can pull off a great escape on the final day of the season after their shock win at MK Dons.

Karl Hawley tapped in the only goal of the game four minutes before the break to keep alive the Iron’s hopes of avoiding the drop as the Dons’ play-off bid was ended.

“I hammered them after Tuesday but there was the response that we needed.

“Everybody was down, it was like a morgue for a few days, but great credit to the players for coming here and winning.”

Milton Keynes dominated possession in the first half but Patrick Bamford scuffed two chances straight at keeper Sam Slocombe. Jon Otsemobor also headed over Shaun Williams’ corner from close range and Luke Chadwick
