Johnson’s silenced but Latics can party
OLDHAM ............2 CRAWLEY ..........1
from David Mellor’s 17th minute cross.
Crawley went within an inch of taking a 52nd minute lead when a Nicky Adams corner struck Paul Hayes only for Dean Bouzanis to gather the ball on the goal line. The Latics opened the scoring four minutes later however when Smith took aim from the edge of the area to beat Paul Jones and find the bottom corner.
They conceded a soft equaliser after being caught napping at Matt Sadler’s 77th minute corner which saw Nicky Adams’ deflected strike fall kindly for the unmarked Connolly.
But Mvoto headed home late on to spark a pitch invasion from Jose Baxter’s freekick, giving Oldham their third consecutive win.
Crawley manager, Richie Barker said:“Some of the players just didn’t turn up. They looked like they were just about ready for their holidays and if that is the case then I won’t bother picking them for the next two games.
“I still feel the result was a little bit harsh because we probably deserved to get something out of the game.
“I thought we could get a result here but we didn’t see the game through.”
