SCOTT FEARS SHOTS ARE SET

ALDERSHOT manager Andy Scott believes his team will be playing in the Blue Square Bet Premier next year, despite Michael Rankine’s goal leaving them with a mathematical chance of survival.
The 27-year-old striker thumped the ball into the middle of the net from close range after the Dagenham defence failed to clear a delivery from Craig Stanley.
Despite securing the three points, Barnet’s victory against Wycombe means the Shots are three points and six goals adrift of safety with one game to play.
Scott said: “It’s a horrible day and not one you want to repeat but this club has been through a lot. We need to become a force to be reckoned with next year and bounce back up at the first time of asking.
“The results that have gone against us in the last couple of weeks have put us in a position where we need snookers to get out of it.
“We did our job, we got the result. Barnet conceding a 94th-minute penalty and saving it. It rubs salt in the wounds. It’s a bad day for us, a very, very bad day for the club.
“You’ve got to believe miracles can happen, there’s not an ‘R’ by our name yet so we’ve got to keep going.”
