MID­DLES­BROUGH boss Tony Mow­bray is sorry to see Julio Arca leave af­ter the Ar­gen­tine’s con­tract was ter­mi­nated by mu­tual con­sent.

The 32-year-old mid­fielder was Boro’s long­est-serv­ing player with 185 ap­pear­ances in seven years, but has played just one league and two cup matches this sea­son af­ter suf­fer­ing a toe in­jury.

He re­turned to train­ing briefly last month be­fore fur­ther prob­lems meant he was un­able to re­gain full fit­ness.

“It’s a shame for Julio and for the club,” said Mow­bray.

“We’d like to thank Julio for his years of ser­vice and we wish him well.”
