NORTH OK, SAYS WARD

The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP -

BRISTOL ROVERS manager John Ward says the decision not to renew the contract of assistant manager Shaun North was no reflection on his ability.

North has left the Pirates after two years and Ward is looking for an experienced replacement to help next season’s promotion bid.

“It wasn’t a question of him not doing his job. He’s been so supportive, as have Marcus Stewart and all the backroom staff,” said Ward.

“We just feel we need to move in a different direction.

“I’ve got nothing but praise for Shaun and if other people ask for a reference for his services, then I’ll give him a good one.”
