CHRIS DONALD – DONCASTER

The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE ONE -

WE’VE done it, was it ever in doubt? When Marcello Trotta stepped up to take the 94th minute penalty my heart sank.

Just 12 seconds later Billy Paynter played the ball across Simon Moore for James Coppinger to poke the ball home and we are the champions of League One.

We erupted. The game as a whole was very nervy as the occasion took its toll on everyone.

Rovers’ fans in good voice got behind the lads excellently and that only seemed to spur them on. Rob Jones and the defence held their ground superbly and stopped everything Brentford had to offer.

You could say we were lucky but that’s our season overall, poor home form but an away form to rival any team in the country.

It had to finish on an away win. What a season it has been, ups and downs throughout and Rovers have finally had their Sergio Aguero moment.
