EVANS HAILS

MICHAEL WHITEHEAD – ROTHERHAM

STEVE EVANS promised us a rollercoaster ride this season and he wasn’t wrong. To finish it winning five games in a row is terrific with all the comings and goings we’ve had.

Evans might not be everyone’s cup of tea and so many will have been willing us to fail this year – but you'll forgive us Millers if we don’t care after having to put up with six years in the basement (the longest in our history) and spending four of those homeless in an athletics stadium!

The match was a bit of a damp squib in truth, there was a lot of tension out there but the lads did a professional job, despite having to clear our lines twice at 1-0! It was great to see Lee Frecklington cap a great season with his strike which also helped to calm the nerves!

I can only see the club going from strength to strength now. League One football, amazing new stadium, a nucleus of a side with Championship and League One experience.

PETE STANFORD – ALDERSHOT

AT FIRST I was just flat but when I was talking to a couple of mates I must admit I did well up – it means that much.

It wasn’t the shock that was the problem it was the manner in which we have gone down – I’ve seen this coming for months and months now. After the first two games of the season I thought we could really challenge at the other end but we never hit those heights again and Dean Holdsworth should really have been sacked before he was.

Andy Scott never really stood a chance with no money to make major changes and he deserves the chance to get things right at the start of next season.

Not that I’m confident we will be straight back – there are bigger and better clubs who have been trying for years to get out of the Conference.

But we must remember we have a club – it’s not like in 1992 when we were starting from scratch again.
