DAVIES FUTURE IS UP IN THE AIR
BOLTON’S long-serving striker Kevin Davies will consider his options again at the end of the season after scrapping a move to Toronto FC.
Davies, 36, had looked poised to seal a move to the MLS club when Bolton agreed to pay part of his wages until his contract at the Reebok Stadium was due to officially end on June 30.
But Davies will now bide his time before making a decision on his future after it emerged that contractual problems made him pull the plug on a move to Canada.
He said: “It has been a complete rollercoaster since first speaking with Ryan Nelsen (the Toronto FC coach) on April 18. As it stands I will not be leaving for Toronto , as reported.
"My young family and I were naturally very excited about the opportunity of going to Toronto on a short-term deal but after legal advice we felt that certain obstacles put in our way were too large to overcome.
“I will finish the season here and continue with my high standards as a professional. I will be ready if the manager needs me and, hopefully, have a part to play in helping the club return to the Premier League.”
