The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP -

I COMPLETED my LMA voting form for Manager of the Year this week. It is tough to look past the men who top the four Leagues when you vote for a winner, because let’s face facts, winning titles is the toughest thing in football management.

However good your squad is, that is the ultimate achievement.

But this year, I just couldn’t get away from Bradford City’s Phil Parkinson as the man deserving the accolade. Just 12 months ago, his Bradford squad were in the lower reaches of League Two.

A spectacular transition has catapulted them into the play-offs and, incredibly, into a League Cup final. To knock out Arsenal and Villa en route is a sensational achievement. That truly is over achievement against budget.

Phil hasn’t had it easy. He suffered a tough time at Hull. But he has now bounced back to form and deserves to be recognised for it.

Good on you Phil. You get my vote.
