AXE IS NO SHOCK FOR WOODYARD
ALEX Woodyard is not surprised to be leaving Southend after boss Phil Brown failed to call him back from a loan at Braintree.
The 20-year-old midfielder was one of five players to be let go by Brown at the start of the week and despite being desperate to stay at Roots Hall, Woodyard had be waiting for the inevitable news.
“When the new manager came in and he didn’t call me back from my loan spell at Braintree I thought things didn’t look too good for me,” he said.
“It’s a big disappointment because I would’ve wanted to stay and I thought I did quite well in some matches earlier in the season.”
