POPE GETS CALL FROM CHARLTON
IT WAS quite a moment for Charlton Athletic third choice keeper Nick Pope after he unexpectedly made his first team debut against Bristol City on the last day of the season.
Called into action for the last 19 minutes after injuries to Ben Hamer and David Button, the 21-year-old keeper did not concede a goal in the Addicks’ 4-1 victory.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling,” he said.“Two years ago I was playing in non-league not really going anywhere in my football and ready to go to university.
“Now to come to this two years after signing. I’ve come so far. I was delighted to end the season this way.”
