SCUNTHORPE manager Brian Laws intends to set his six out-of-contract players a deadline over where their loyalties lie once the Iron have a new chairman.

The dispute over who owns the club is set to go on for another fortnight and Jimmy Ryan, Michael Collins, Eddie Nolan, Tom Newey, Matt Godden and James Severn are the players in question.

Laws claims all six would like to stay at Glan- ford Park but acknowledges that he would be surprised if they all stay as the club looks set to slash its wage bill.

Laws said:“When it comes to how long players want to make their minds up, if they don’t know now if there are any offers on the table then I’d be surprised.

“We will set them a deadline. Once the chairmanship is sorted we’ll sit down, decide the offers we are going to make and put a time scale on it. It won’t be long.We might give them a week or so.

“The big question I asked when I spoke to them last week was:‘Do you want to stay?’The feedback we’ve had has been very positive. Credit to them for that.”
