The Football League Paper - - NEWS - By Isaac William

SHEFFIELD Wednesday goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has insisted that he is happy to stay at Hillsborough after he was linked with Hull .

Kirkland played a key role in Wednesday retaining their Championship status and wants to repay the support they have given him.

He said: “I’m happy where I am. I’m pleased to be here. It’s a big club and they have looked after me from day one.

“The staff and the gaffer have been brilliant and the fans are magnificent.

“I’m delighted with the way things are going, and we’ve stayed up, which is the most important thing for everyone involved.

“Hopefully we can push on next season. If we can push up the league it will be great.”

Kirkland has had more than his fair share of injury problems in the past and is grateful that he could repay

the faith Wednesday

showed in him. He added:“I told them how fit I was and how confident I was that I could last the season, and they trusted me.”
