TRANMERE manager Ronnie Moore insists he had no qualms in handing 40year-old defender Ian Goodison a new year-long contract.

Goodison, Jamaica’s record caps holder, has been with the Wirral club since 2002 and has made almost 400 appearances.

He said:“I’m really pleased Ian will be here for another year. He has been a fantastic footballer for this club over the past nine years.

“People might be surprised I’ve offered him a contract at the age of 40 but Ian doesn’t play like a 40year-old.He is not like any other player I have worked with. He’s a one-off.”
