STRIKER LEE AIMS TO KEEP PLAYING

The Football League Paper - - FA CUP FINAL - By John Hodgson

FORMER Ireland striker Alan Lee has vowed to keep playing despite being released by Huddersfield.

The 34-year-old racked up nine goals in 80 league appearances for the Terriers, but struggled to find the net this season, with just two goals to his name.

The second of those came in what proved a vital 2-1 win over Middlesbrough back in March, but after beating the drop Huddersfield parted ways with Lee, who is adamant he still has something to offer.

He said: “I came into this season with a bit of a carryover from a knee injury, and that had an effect early on, but I’ve worked hard on my fitness. I’m feeling sharp and in good shape.

“I’m doing my coaching badges with a view to the future, but at this moment, I certainly feel I can still make a contribution as a player.

“I would love to have stayed, but I’d back myself to go and do a job elsewhere and score goals.”
