NOEL – LEEDS WILL BE IN HUNT
LEEDS United’s new striker Noel Hunt has vowed to help revive ‘a sleeping giant’ after his move to Yorkshire.
Hunt, 30, has linked-up again with manager Brian McDermott, who he played for at Reading after signing a two-year deal.
Now his aim is to try and help get Leeds back into the Premier League.
He said: “This a massive club. I think it’s a sleeping giant that needs to be woken up.
“Expectations are going to be massive here, but you see how big this football club is.
“It’s one of the top six clubs in England can’t sleep forever.
“I hope we’ve got enough to give it a poke and get it up and running. It’s a big season for the club and a big season for me.
“We have to get back where we should be and the only way we will do that is by working hard, and the fans have to get behind us as well.
“I always hated playing at Leeds – you knew you were in for a battle, on the field and off it – I’m looking forward to them getting behind me now.
“I received a lot of messages from fans on Twitter which were very encouraging and there was no doubt in my mind about coming up here.
“When Brian first phoned I had it in my head that I wanted to come to Leeds.”
