POTTER SPOILS FRATTON PARTY
A CRACKING atmosphere generated by a big crowd but Oxford were the party poopers to send Pompey spinning to defeat.
With Portsmouth well on top in the first half and playing some terrific stuff, it looked only a matter of time before they would extend their lead after Patrick Agyemang put them ahead.
But Portsmouth will feel they had a part to play themselves in conceding both firsthalf goals, firstly allowing Potter so much space and making some basic defensive errors throughout.
The Johnny Ertl dismissal was also a major factor in the result. There was definite contact, but whether it was deliberate or dangerous is open to question.
After Agyemang put Pompey ahead midway through the first half, it looked certain for a home win.
Few would have predicted this scoreline - not least the bookmakers who had Pompey down as strong League Two title favourites before the game.
