THOMAS BACK IN HOWE’S PLANS

The Football League Paper - - NEWS - By Ian Rothwell

BOURNEMOUTH boss Eddie Howe has told Swindon to forget about signing Wes Thomas after the Cherries rejected their bid for the striker.

The Robins tabled around £125,000 for the 26-year-old but that was given short shrift by Howe.

Thomas has been with Bournemouth since 2011 and has scored 11 goals in 48 games but spent much of their promotion campaign last season out on loan at Portsmouth, as well as Blackpool and Birmingham.

But Howe now claims he is now firmly back in his plans. He said: “Wes isn’t for sale, Swindon haven’t been encouraged and the bid has been rejected. We want to bring in a striker to complement what we have. We certainly wouldn’t want to be letting one go.

“He has put in a couple of good performances. He has worked extremely hard and the fans really took to him last Saturday when they saw how much of a shift he put in for the team, and his attitude and commitment to the cause, so long may that continue.”
