TIME FOR COVENTRY CITY FANS TO START OVER AGAIN

The Football League Paper - - NEWS -

COVENTRY fans – the time has come to abandon this sorry joke of a club and start again.

What have you got to lose? Your club is already gone, uprooted 35 miles to a different town in a different county.

Every penny you pay to watch them goes into the pockets of the very people who ran it into the ground.

Coventry City has no home, few players and even fewer points after a deduction by the Football League. League One is likely to become League Two. What have you got left to follow?

Starting over is hard work. You need money, time and people willing to work long hours for no money.

You need fans to stay loyal. A trip to Barton Rovers on a Tuesday night in December isn’t for everyone.

But ask Chester FC if it was worth it. Ask Halifax Town. Both went bust in the last five years. Both restarted in the eighth tier of English football. Both are now back in the Conference and in better shape than ever.

Next season, one of them could be in the same division as Coventry. That’s how fast things can turn around. Right now, the Sky Blues are heading down at a rate of knots. By the time they thump to a halt, how many years will have been wasted? Stockport County, in Conference North, are the grimmest reminder.

It would surely be better to cut your losses now and start again with a club you can be proud of.
