The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP -

POOR Coventry. What with playing at Northampton and now being deducted ten points, you’re tempted to think it can’t get any worse.

But just ask Portsmouth how bad it can get. Their first game in the bottom division and they end up getting beat 4-1.

Five years ago they won the FA Cup, now they’re 91st in the Football League – it’s a cruel game sometimes.

Still, you’d rather be them than Coventry right now. I just find it absolutely ridiculous that there’s a fantastic stadium sitting in Coventry gathering dust.

The two groups are acting like big soft kids. Surely something could have been done to reach an agreement before now.

Like everyone else, I just thought it was brinkmanship. I thought they’d get together at the eleventh hour and thrash something out.

But no. They’re both digging their heels in and it could be the destruction of the club. How stupid can you get?

I don’t blame the fans if they don’t turn up at Northampton. If I was one, I wouldn’t.
