The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP - By John Hodgson

SHREWSBURY’S new loan striker Graham Burke is relishing the chance to test himself at League One level.

Republic of Ireland under21 international Burke, 19, will stay with Shrewsbury until January.

He made two brief appearances for Villa in the League Cup last season and is keen to move his career forward by testing himself.

“It will be a new experience for me playing against men, playing against more physical players and getting a taste of what first team football is like,” admitted Burke

“I like to get on the ball and create things. I like scoring goals too so hopefully I can do that.

“The loan only happened on Wednesday morning. I was meant to be playing at Hinckley and I got a phone call at 3pm saying Shrewsbury had come in for me on loan which I was delighted about.

“This is my first loan move. I played in the League Cup for Villa last season but this will be the highest standard of football I’ve played so far.”
