Angel is the big Papa of the pizzas
BLACKPOOL stars Angel Martinez, Bob Harris and Mark Halstead got a pizza the action this week – and the Spanish midfielder topped the lot.
The Sea siders trio were guest chefs at the town’s Papa Johns takeaway and Spaniard Martinez, a cult figure on the Bloomfield Road terraces, proved he’s not just a maestro in their midfield.
The 27-year-old was adjudged the winner ahead of reserve goalkeeper Halstead and left-back Harris.
Martinez said: “Sometimes I’ve made pizza at home but I didn’t know how to make the takeaway style. It was great fun to see how they do it here and then to eat it as well.”
Halstead, a keen cook at home, admitted it had moved him away from his comfort zone.
“I do like to cook most nights and think I’m a bit of a dab hand in the kitchen but not with pizza – a carbonara is my speciality.
“It’s certainly harder than it looks. You don’t realise it when you are opening the box at home! I don’t think I will be getting a full-time job here.”
