The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP -

POOR Greg Abbott up at Carlisle. Played three, lost three. Scored one, conceded 13. It’s about as grim a start as you could hope for.

When you lose games early in the season, you can’t help but look over your shoulder and he’ll be feeling pretty down.

The fact is, we all get the sack at some stage. That’s life as a manager. Greg just has to put it out of his mind, concentrate on keeping strong mentally and rely on the character of his players not to get too down.

Anyone can play well and sound confident when you’re winning. But when things aren’t going well, nobody talks, nobody really wants the ball.

Good pros want the ball regardless and Greg will just be hoping he’s got enough of them in his squad to pull Carlisle through this patch.
