LEE’S HAPPY TO TAKE A GAMBLE
LEE Johnson admits the signing of John Paul Kissock is unfashionable but the Oldham boss is hoping his gamble pays off.
Kissock has joined on loan from NonLeague Macclesfield but, having graduated from Everton’s academy, Johnson believes it is a risk worth taking.
And Johnson, who has also signed Bristol City defender James Wilson on a contract to the end of the season and Stockport striker Rhys Turner on an 18 month deal, said: “JP is an interesting one.
“He is someone I have followed for a long time and I’ve always thought he was a really good player.
“It may appear to be an unfashionable signing, but sometimes as a manager you have to weigh up the value, age, pedigree and talent and take a chance. This is such an occasion.
“He is certainly hungry, and with the pedigree he has got he needs to play with players that can fit with a similar style.”
