EDINBURGH: SHAUN AS GOOD AS WASH

The Football League Paper - - NEWS -

NEWPORT boss Justin Edinburgh has defended his decision to let striker Conor Washington leave for Peterborough by claiming his replacement Shaun Jeffers can be just as good.

Washington and Jeffers, 21, swapped clubs in the week, with County reportedly picking up as much as £500,000 in return, and Edinburgh thinks his side may be the winners in the long run.

“First and foremost it was right for the football club and it was an opportunity for Conor to go and further his football career,” said Edinburgh.

“I wish Conor all the best. He’s a fantastic lad and has great potential but I think we’ve got an asset in Shaun and hopefully he can get us some goals.”
