The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP -

SHEFFIELD Wednesday’s great escape continues apace. It’s six wins and four draws in 12 league games now for Stuart Gray’s side, who never looked like losing this game once they had got themselves ahead.

Admittedly they had the numerical advantage for the majority of the game, but given the energy and the pace of their attacking players on show, it’s no surprise that they have beaten the likes of Leicester and Leeds in recent weeks – they are brimming with confidence.

Survival looks more than possible.

As for Reading, they need to make the Madjeski a fortress if they’re going to gain promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. Worryingly, they’ve won only three of their last eight games at home – and have lost as many in that same period.

Goals are not an issue; with Adam Le Fondre and Pavel Pogrebnyak up front they will continue to be one of the league’s most potent attacking forces.

But the teams around them are ominously better on their own turf.
