CARSON PROVES WORTH TO YORK
NIGEL Worthington has handed Josh Carson an extension to his stay at York – with the caveat that the midfielder ups his goal threat.
The 20-year-old joined the Minstermen on loan from Ipswich last season before signing a permanent deal in September and will now stay until the end of next season.
The Northern Ireland international has made 25 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring three goals.
And while Worthington has been impressed by his efforts, he wants to see more from his young star.
“I am delighted to get Josh on a longer contract,” said Worthington. “He did very well for us when he came in on loan at the end of last season and he’s come in at this season and worked very hard.
“He’s improving all the time and it will be good for him to get contract matters out his mind and he can focus on his game. Hopefully he can continue to work hard and supply opportunities for goals as well as maybe get one or two more himself.”
