JONATHAN HENLY was happy to extend his stay at Oxford according to caretaker manager Mickey Lewis – despite accepting he’s second choice to Ryan Clarke.

Henly’s initial one-month deal from Reading expired last week but with Max Crocombe still not fully recovered from a shoulder injury, the 19year-old has stayed on.

“Jon has done really well in training and shown what he can do,” said Lewis. “He fits in well with the lads, has a great attitude and it is important to have cover.

“Clarkey is in excellent form at the moment so Jon understands the situation and we are pleased to have extended the loan.”
