But, af­ter Kevin Davies missed a golden op­por­tu­nity to clinch it, even Slade was happy to add his voice to the Fin­ney trib­utes.

“Some­times, people use the word leg­end too loosely. But Tom Fin­ney was an ab­so­lute leg­end. Not just in terms of his foot­ball but also in terms of his loy­alty to Pre­ston.”
