PETRASSO AIMS FOR A BLUES BONANZA
MICHAEL Petrasso was thrown in at the deep end last weekend, but the Canadian teenager is hoping to build on an encouraging Coventry City debut.
Petrasso joined Coventry on loan from Championship side QPR only last Monday – and the very next day started up front in the 2-1 defeat at home to Carlisle.
The 18-year-old found it tough to settle at first but, despite the Sky Blues surrendering a half-time lead and going on to lose, he is excited about the chance to play again.
“It was my first game and I found it hard getting into holes and stuff like that,” said Petrasso.
“But I thought we created some chances and got very unlucky in the second half when things just didn’t go our way.”
And Petrasso – who scored one goal in 11 league appearances with Oldham Athletic on loan betwen August and February this season – hopes the match was the start of a promising partnership with Chuba Akpom, a fellow teenage loanee, from Arsenal.
“Chuba and I just met each other this week,” added Petrasso.“It’s a case of the two of us starting to get used to each other.
“If it was just one young lad being thrown in alongside a more experienced player they might be able to instruct us a bit more, but we did OK and hopefully we can do better and get a few goals.”
