The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP - By James Robson

ROTHERHAM United boss Steve Evans is not an easy man to please, according to his right-hand man Paul Raynor.

Following promotion to League One last season, the Millers are firmly in the playoff spots and headed into this weekend on a six-match unbeaten run.

However, Raynor revealed the manager is rarely satisfied and expects his side to continue overachieving and push for automatic promotion.

“He’s very ambitious,” said the assistant manager. “He pushes the boys and gets that little bit extra out of everybody and he gets a response from people.

“We knew we’d never be happy with mid-table. The gaffer is always moaning and groaning saying we should be there, we should be doing this, we should have had two more points there.

“Yes, we’re happy where we are but we are setting our sights even higher.

“It’s probable that the fans will be disappointed if we don’t finish the job but that’s fans for you isn’t it? They want success and they want it now, which is great and they’ve been fantastic.

“But you try to keep it subdued a little because you don’t want to be shot in the foot and get too big for our boots.”

AMBITIOUS: Steve Evans
