CREWE midfielder Billy Waters insists that signing a new two-year contract at Gresty Road does not mean that he can take his foot off the gas.

The 19-year-old has scored 14 times for Alex’s U21 side this season and now wants to make an impact in the first team as soon as possible.

“Just because you’ve got a contract doesn’t mean you’ve cracked it,” he said.

“I've still got a lot of work to do to prove myself. I want to build on what I’ve done so far.

“I'm pleased with what I’ve done, but next season I’ve got to continue to progress and try and get a regular run in the team.”
