PORTER HITS LEVELLER TO CARRY
CHESTERFIELD boss Paul Cook admitted it was a case of two points dropped for his promotion-chasing side as Newport eased their relegation worries with a crucial late leveller.
Jimmy Ryan’s strike early in the second half appeared to set up a Spireites triumph, but Max Porter’s superb late effort earned parity for the strugglers from South Wales.
“Newport were only one down and never laid down even though they didn’t create much,” said Cook.
“But we missed some chances to get us over the finish line and that gave Newport a chance.
“It is two points dropped at home and that’s disappointing, but we can’t take our mind off the job in hand, fighting for promotion with five league games left.
