The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP -

IT COULD have been the day that Burnley’s return to the Premier League was confirmed and the fans began to believe.

The Clarets dominated the early proceedings and with news of Huddersfield taking the lead against Derby flooding into Turf Moor, the excitement was clear to see.

Chance after chance came Burnley’s way but resolute defending along with a misfiring attack ensured it was not going to be Burnley’s day. Danny Ings is still lacking the killer instinct he dis- played before his injury but his movement was still breathtaking at times. He is a man who is feared whether scoring or not and his form is sure to return.

Derby’s comeback would have denied Burnley of promotion even if they clawed out a victory but one thing is for sure – if Sean Dyche’s men can perform like this at Blackpool on Friday then the return to the big-time will be soon.
