CODY CALLS FOR TAYLOR TO STAY

-

CODY MCDONALD claims the entire Gillingham squad are desperate to see boss Peter Taylor given a new contract.

McDonald has found the net with regularity this season and credits Taylor for his form.

Taylor took over at Priestfield on an interim basis in October following Martin Allen’s departure and was then handed a fulltime contract until the end of the season.

Taylor’s future at the club is still unclear, but McDonald believes all the squad would be more than happy to see the former England U21 manager remain in charge next season.

“I am enjoying it and I am playing every week. The manager has his own ideas, he is a great manager and a great person to train with,” said the 27-yearold.

“He works hard for the team and gets his ideas across. It is enjoyable to be here.

“It is down to the chairman now, but all of the lads would like to see the gaffer stay and see where it takes us.

“The lads who have now played in League One for the first time will have gained from that and be able to build on this.”
