Neil Fissler reveals all the latest hot gossip in the transfer market

The Football League Paper - - NEWS - By Neil Fissler

STUART PEARCE wants to make Coventry striker Callum Wilson his first signing when he takes over at Nottingham Forest.

The former England under-21 international boss has spent the last few weeks looking at potential transfer targets.

Pearce was spotted watching the Sky Blues against Swindon on Good Friday and it is known Wilson is in his sights.

Coventry boss Steven Pressley is desperate to see his leading scorer stay at the club.

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett has also been linked with a move for Wilson, who last weekend was named in the PFA League One team of the season and is rated at around £3m.

Pearce will be heavily backed in the transfer market by Forest owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi, who wants Forest in the Premier League. ARSENAL spies have been spotted taking a close look at highly-rated Crewe Alexandra hot-shot Charlie Kirk.

Kirk is being seen as the next big thing to come off the Gresty Road production line and Arsenal have been regularly been keeping tabs on his progress. PRESTON are lining up a summer swoop for St Johnstone goal machine Stevie May.

North End are the latest League One side to take a close look at the Scottish under-21 international.

Both Peterborough and Rotherham have been chasing May, who is closing in on 30 goals for the season, for months.

The Posh made several attempts to sign him last summer but were unable to agree a fee with the Saints.

It looks increasingly likely that he will quit St Johnstone this summer and will follow the well trodden path south of the border.

The 21-year-old will delay making any decision until later in the summer when he has assessed all of the options open to him.

North End boss Simon Grayson could take a closer look when May plays in the Scottish Cup final later this month.
