ACHILLE’S DEAL IS TO LEARN ENGLISH
PORT VALE’S French signing Achille Campion wants to further his football education in England after an early soccer schooling in the States.
The 23-year-old striker, who had trials with Bradford, Sheffield Wednesday, Yeovil and Ipswich over the summer, has signed a shortterm deal from Swedish Division One side Norrby IF.
Previously he was with University of California Santa Barbara and Campion is desperate to put his skills to the test in England.
“I’m just trying to get fit at the moment and as soon as I’m fit I’ll be ready to go in the first team,” said Campion.
“I’m on top of my fitness, I just need to be ready for a long season.
“In America we play a lot of games in a short amount of time. Now it’s going to be over a longer period.
“I feel that American football is very physical, but I don’t think they are ready yet to compete with English football and that is why I’m here.
“My goal as a player is to push myself to the limit. To do that you go where you can play the best and I believe that’s in England.
“I’m very hungry to succeed. I think it is important to be hungry to further your career at my age rather than be happy where you’re at.”
