OWLS HAVE THE WIT TO WOO TOP SIX

The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE ONE -

WELL done Sheffield Wednesday. The Owls have made a good start for a change and were desperately unlucky to see their unbeaten run end at the hands of Nottingham Forest last weekend.

It just goes to show how far they’ve come under Stuart Gray that they can count themselves unfortunate to have lost to one of the best teams in the division.

The players are really enjoying working under Gray and, talking to them, there’s a genuine belief that this season won’t be a relegation scrap.

I’ve also been really impressed by Liam Palmer, a young lad who’s progressed through the academy. He’s got loads of talent and is capable of playing right-back, on the wing and central midfield.

But the most impressive thing is his attitude – it’s bang on and I think he’ll be a regular in a Wednesday shirt for years to come.

I’m yet to be convinced they have enough goals in the final third. They don’t look to have as many goals as a Watford or a Forest.

But I hope I’m proved wrong and they are up there with the league’s top scorers.

That would certainly make the top six prospect more of a possibility – and that’s something long overdue.
