COOPER: GREENING WAS HASTY
HARTLEPOOL manager Colin Cooper says he tried to talk midfielder Jonathan Greening out of his decision to retire this week.
Greening, 35, spent two days on trial with Cooper after being released by Nottingham Forest at the end of last season and the Pools boss wanted to make his stay permanent.
But Greening, who spent three years with Manchester United, instead opted to hang up his boots.
Cooper said:“I did tell him not to be too hasty.
“I have seen people who regret not having the extra couple of years when their bodies are more than capable.”
