NOTTS DRAW A SIGN OF THINGS TO COME
IT’S ONLY September, but Peterborough may have just got a taste of things to come after being frustrated by Notts County.
A young side who have surged to the top of the league found it hard to break down the visitors, who stayed compact and ought to have taken the lead when Jake Cassidy stabbed wide from middle of the penalty area.
With no space in the middle, Posh’s threat came down the flanks and in particular from Marcus Maddison, who had the final ball to unlock the defence.
Unfortunately for the home fans, Luke James fired over their best chance.
County’s central midfielders Alan Smith and Gary Jones had 30 years on their opposite numbers and they used that experience well, especially Smith.
But other than Cassidy’s chance they offered little else going forward and never tested Ben Alnwick in the Peterborough goal.
Overall it was a good point for County who will be pleased.
