IF EVER you want to ear n the respect of your fellow players, show them how well you can handle a drink... as Bradford City captain Stuart McCall did when celebrating promotion to the Premier League in 1999.

Every Bantams fan has seen trhe footage of the current Motherwell boss toppling off the roof of a car when it starts moving outside Valley Parade.

Now former City teammate Dean Windass has revealed why the midfielder, who went on to manage the club, wasn’t hammered by his pals as much as he was by the booze.

“He didn’t get any stick because he never dropped his can,” said Windass in an interview with the October issue of Four Four Two magazine. “He kept hold of his beer, so we were all quite proud of him. We had about five bottles of champagne before we even left the changing room. God knows how much we had on the bus.”
