COOPER FED UP OF SEEING RED

The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE TWO RESULTS -

SWINDON manager Mark Cooper will take the unconventional step of bringing a referee to training in a bid to improve discipline.

Cooper’s side have already received 11 yellow and two red cards in their opening seven games after being League One’s second-worst offenders last term.

Ex-Peterborough boss Cooper says he has already spoken to brothers Nathan and Louis Thompson about their reds this season.

“We’re looking at bringing in a local referee in to give us advice in training as to how we approach things,” said Cooper.

“Before the first game, I got the Thompson brothers together to have a serious meeting, saying: ‘We’ve got to stop this rashness, in terms of tackling’.

“They said:‘ Yes, gaffer, no problem’. Ten minutes into the first game and Nathan’s in straight away. I just don’t know if you can take it out of them.”
