SEAGULLS GIVE UP ON INIGO RED
BRIGHTON boss Sami Hyypia is not appealing Inigo Calderon’s red card in the Capital One Cup tie at Burton, even though he believes it was wrong.
The Seagulls defender went for a high challenge on Robbie Weir, but his manager thinks the tackle looks worse than it actually was.
Having consulted with officials, Hyypia is resigned to losing the Spaniard for three games and is not willing to add another to that with a failed appeal.
“We have spoken with referees and they suggested we wouldn't get the decision overturned,” he said. “We don't want to run the risk that he will get an extra game added to his ban.”
