THREE POINTS ARE AT LAST IN KIT’S BAG

The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP -

CONSIDERING these two sides’ wretched form of late, it was never going to be a match of the highest quality.

But managerless Fulham showed plenty of fight to snatch their first league win of the season.

The first half threw up a handful of chances with Clayton Donaldson missing a sitter before David Cotterill showed him how to do it in fine style. The wideman, a summer arrival from Doncaster Rovers, had already drawn praise from boss Lee Clark prior to the game and he could well be a crucial player for the Blues this season.

But Clark also needs to address defensive issues as two goals in eight minutes turned this game on it’s head. Admittedly there was a touch of luck about both but Fulham will not be complaining with three vital points.

Caretaker manager Kit Symons said after their midweek win over Doncaster that the result would help his chances of being appointed permanently. A second win certainly boosts his claim even further.
