Born: Not­ting­ham, 1973 (Age 41) 1991-95: A scholar at Notts County, John­son ex­celled through the ranks and made his se­nior de­but at 17. He made 107 ap­pear­ances in his four year spell.

1995-03: John­son joined Birm­ing­ham City for a fee of £230,000. He in­stantly walked into the first team, and was a r egu­lar un­til the 2002-03 sea­son when he fell out of favour. While at Birm­ing­ham, John­son gained 12 caps for Ja­maica. In 2003 he moved to Derby County on a free trans­fer. In to­tal John­son made 262 ap­pear­ances and scored 12 goals for Birm­ing­ham. 2003-08: John­son went straight into the Derby start­ing XI. He spent five years at Derby gain­ing pro­mo­tion to the Premier League as club cap­tain in 2006. At the age of 34, John­son spent three months on loan with Sh­effield Wed­nes­day in the 2007-08 sea­son be­fore re­turn­ing to Derby in the De­cem­ber. He made three more ap­pear­ances for the Rams be­fore re­turn­ing on loan to Notts County in Fe­bru­ary 2008. John­son fi­nally scored his first goal for Notts County and made 12 ap­pear­ances be­fore the end of the sea­son. 2008-present: Agreed a one-year per­ma­nent deal from Derby to Notts County at the end of the 2008 sea­son, John­son made 29 ap­pear­ances in 2008-09. At the end of the sea­son he an­nounced his re­tire­ment. He is cur­rently club am­bas­sador at Birm­ing­ham City.
