U’S FAN CALLUM LIVING A DREAM

The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE TWO RESULTS -

THE transformation from fan to player is a journey that most would love to take – but Oxford United’s Callum O’Dowda is actually living that dream.

The versatile 19-yearold, who can play in midfield or up front, progressed through his hometown club’s centre of excellence before grabbing his first goal for the U’s against Exeter earlier this month.

And O’Dowda admits that sometimes he can barely believe how quickly he has gone from chanting along with his fellow fans in the stands to hearing his own name ringing around the Kassam.

“When I joined the club, I was eight and watched the games week-in, week-out,” said O’Dowda.

“It’s special to be part of it. If I wasn’t playing, I’d be watching. To get on the pitch is brilliant.

“I’ve grown since I've got in the team, I’m more confident – hopefully now I can keep it going and progress.”
