Forest go green for love of Cloughie

The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE TWO -

THE green shoots of recovery have been on show at Nottingham Forest ever since Stuart Pearce returned to the City Ground in the summer.

But on the midweek trip to Tottenham in the Capital One Cup, it was the Championship high-flyers’ fans who went all green – and we’re not talking electric buses.

Many Reds supporters who made the trip to north London wore the same colour jumper made famous by Psycho’s old gaffer, Brian Clough, in paying respect to the tenth anniversary of the legendary manager’s death from stomach cancer.

The League Cup sponsors, who are based in the East Midlands city, handed out 1,000 tops as Forest fans boarded their coaches to head down the M1, so they looked like those pictured next to Old Big ‘Ead’s statue in Nottingham’s Market Square, above.

And it looked like being ‘Green for Go’ atWhite Hart Lane as Pearce’s young side took a 61st-minute lead through Jorge Grant – only for the Premier League side to progress with three late goals.
